My Favorite Cup
My friend Mira from Belle-Blanc is having a give-away. All you have to do to enter is show her your favorite cup and maybe it will be her favorite too. Mira has a beautiful blog and if you haven't visited yet...you are in for a treat!
This is my favorite cup and saucer. It is part of a set of dishes that I purchased in dribs and drabs over a period of a few months...several years ago.
It really is a rather amusing story that started out in a discount store here in the USA and ended up in France....but I will save that for another time.
I love the beautiful glaze and creamy color...I love the detail on the handle...
... andI love that it is not too tiny....it holds a good cup of tea.
Lallier a Moustiers...
A traditional French tin-glazed earthenware produced by factories in the town of Moustiers from about 1679 into the 19th century. The wares manufactured in the 17th and 18th centuries were so distinctive, and of such high quality, that they were extensively copied at other faience centres in France.
My cup is not old.....but I love it!
I can't do a post about a favorite cup without mentioning Big Blue.
Big Blue has been with me at the office for many years. She holds about 2 and a half cups of coffee. When I leave the office for good in a few weeks...she will come home with me!
Big Blue is my favorite mug!
If you want to be a part of Mira's give-away....
...you better get there soon...there is only one day left!
Pretty hearts handmade years ago from vintage blue fabrics by my Mom in Law...
The sun shone today and the snow melted a little....
We have a ways to go...
...but spring is sure to come!
Have a great night!
:) Laura
I do like big blue!! Nothing better than a BIG cup for coffee!! And it is beautiful against the flowered plate.

I really like your pretty blues. Your teacup from France is lovely and thanks for the background.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how we all have a favorite cup and nothing else will go for our coffee or tea!
hugs
Sissie
Laura,
ReplyDeleteI love big blue! I have a blueberry mug from LL Bean, I have had for years and it holds a good 2 cups. It is my fav.
Happy blue Monday.
Donna
ahhhh! please don't forget to tell the story about your white dishware. i have been told that different times and i never do get to hear the story. till later, Denise
ReplyDeleteHey girlfriend!
ReplyDeletethanks for droppin' by the Yaya! I must say if I tried to enter this "tea cup" give-a-way ya'll would "ban" me forever! You see my fav is just an old styrofoam cup...because I never seem to have the time to just sit with a proper tea cup (besides too small for this Cajun) and "sip" tea! Us Cajuns and Texans would get laughed at if we "sipped tea"...because our "tea" has to be nice and COLD and in a HUGE tall glass (mostly a mason jar). LOL
Beautiful tea/coffee mug? Big blue is...hope you win! xo...deb
Hey Laura
ReplyDeleteWell You know the blue and white always speaks to my heart!! Big Blue looks like he can hold his own.. [haha]... and the dainty cup is quite sweet too.. maybe they could get together someday!! I'll pop over to see Mira's blog... ciao ciao.. xx Julie

Ooh I love your teacup! It would be my favorite too. I am in love with Mira's blog...it is one of my top favorites. Wish I didn't have all of my favorite teacups packed away so I could enter :(...maybe I will go search through some boxes...lol...
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, love that French piece of perfection, and yes, I have a similar cup to "Big Blue". I doctor up my tea and coffee so much I just have to have a monster cup, otherwise I'd be running back to fix it every other gulp!
ReplyDeleteDebra
Laura you are my kinda girl, yep! A girl that can put away the coffee. Big blue is coveted! I too have a cup that holds a LOT of the wonderful "bean juice" as Hoops & YoYo refer to it. If you are not familiar with them , they are hallmark cartoon characters. Super funny!
ReplyDeletewow! you even made a post about cups and mugs beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome blogging, laura!!
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteisn't that a great idea from Mira? I am very interested for Miras choice! Your favorite french cup is soooo nice, but the BigBlue seems to be very practical and looks so good with the wonderful white-blue faience.
Many warm greetings from germany
Bine

Big Blue is perfect...and love the hearts.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty white cup. I don't know how Mira is going to choose with cups like this one. It's just beautiful.
The blue hearts from the fabric of you MIL are darling. I'm sure they look right at home amid all your beautiful things. They will certainly go well with Big Blue.
hugs

I know Moustiers well and have been there a number of times. Moustiers is in the department my husband comes from and has a beautiful big metal star strung between two buildings in the colourful town. I also have some Moustier pieces that we were given for our wedding (let's not talk about the collections my MiL has ...Varages and Moustiers being her favourites). Funny that you should have a piece - so far away as you are ;-) Wonderful, I shall think of you even more now when I use mine! Although my favourite cup comes from Elsewhere... I must enter into that competition.
ReplyDeleteJust as preety as can be - blue is such an upbeat yet comforting clean color! Jennifer stop by sometime jennsthreegraces
ReplyDeletelove your moustiers cup. I can not believe it , you found it in an outlet store... Fabulous find
ReplyDeleteI love your cups too!!
ReplyDeleteI got my magazine today! I love it,
thanks so much.
Rosemary
Ah I'm speechless, I love your favorit cup... exactly my taste... will it be the winner? I can't say it for now but I will have to choose the winner tomorrow... this will be a hard job. But I really can say, you are one of my favorites, hugs & kisses Mira!
ReplyDeleteLove your white teacup and look forward to reading your post about how you first discovered that earthenware. I have been to France several times but had not heard of Moustiers. It sounds like a delightful village which creates gorgeous cups! Good luck. Can't find the magazine...boohoo!
ReplyDeleteYour lovely little French cup is just perfection. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prayers and kind words, it means so much to me.
Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Anne
Laura amor, I am hangin my head in shame...I saw your post when you had only 2or3 comments and I left without leaving my own...meaning to come back sooner rather than later...but alas here I am and I LOVE your beautiful cup, the lines are beautiful...simply elegant, I actually have a set of dishes that look just like that, except my cups aren't as lovely as that...they are taller :( ...I love that and big blue...well I would love a huge cup of Godiva hot coco in that :) Your blue and whites are just lovely. I just did a post of my own favorite cup and I am so excited because it is my first time joining in something lovely like this :) Besos, Rose
