Sylvia

Sylvia was my mother in law's first cousin.
She was a pretty young thing with long black curls.

This picture was taken around 1909 by her Uncle Fred, a professional photographer and my mother in law's father (my husband's grandfather)... Cick on images for closer look!

The little child's fan with the peacock feathers and sweet silk tassel belonged to Sylvia and came in a pink silk case.
My mother in law says pretty little Sylvia grew up to be a beautiful woman.
She lived to be 95 years old and had three husbands!

I guess not all at once....
Hope your evening is relaxing and your Friday brings a good start to the weekend!
:) Laura
P.S. Don't forget to enter Jackie's giveaway at Bliss Farm Antiques!. She is in Paris with her daughter and is planning on bringing back a souvenir for the winner!

  1. I love that you know so much about your relatives....I know so little about mine. The fan is gorgeous and being tipped with feathers makes it even better. It gives me an idea for an old one I have.
    To die for hair too!

  3. I have curly hair too! It is such an adventure being a curly haired girl hair. I plan to do a post on it someday.

She was truly lovely! Her dainty little fan is precious. What a wonderful keepsake to have.

  4. Hi Laura, Isn't Sylvia a beauty. I'm lovin' her pretty white coat. Wouldn't you love to have that and her darling little boots too? Having her pretty fan is such a blessing. I wish we could see into the future and see what would thrill our loved ones to have of ours.

  11. I love Sylvia's hat and coat....doesn't she look pretty ? I bet when she was given that fan she was over the moon. My sister has traced our family back a long way and my husbands family have been traced back and were related to Simon de Montford, equerry to Henry V111. His family are far more interesting than mine ! XXXX

  22. What a wonderful story to go with the photo and fan. I posted about my grandparents and their well-travelled suicase (now with me in France) recently, and I felt so proud to be able to link their pictures with something I now own.

  24. What a pretty girl Sylvia was. Write down all you know about your family history. We wish we had before my Grandparents passed. Now we have questions that we wish they could answer. :-)
