3 Cigar Boxes

I purchased 3 cigar boxes this weekend at the sale in Warrensburg.....
The first was a box full of unsorted buttons for $1.00.....
I still haven't had a chance to sit and sort through them but have spied a few interesting items already!

The next two cigar boxes were found together and at the table in front of the local Catholic church....
They were mixed in with pots and pans and all sorts of donated items from the parishioners...
Inside were these two lovely pictures and an amazing array of...

religious metals, crosses and rosary beads...

I was pretty excited.....there are over 100 items in these 2 cigar boxes!

Tomorrow, I will show you the rest of my finds.....
Despite the rain and fog....I came away with some treasure...at least my kind of treasure!
Have a restful night!
:) Laura

How wonderful! I always wonder how people can part with those things, especially the religious medals and rosary beads and crosses, but I am so happy for you that you found them! Bisous... Julie Marie

Laura it was worth getting wet for after all. I guess churches just see so much of that stuff they don't realize how coveted they are. Opps you're not suppose to covet...right?

Oh Laura,

You have the best luck of anyone I know. The medals are exquisite. I have found them, but only "onesie" and "twosie" at a time, and you two boxes full!

Love you, but am green with envy,

Marjorie

It sure looks like you hit the Mother Lode! Congratulations!

I have made rosaries over the past couple of years and, like Marjorie at Chemin des Muguets, I'm green with envy! Nothing like vintage medals to complete a new rosary.

See you again soon!

W@hat a fun find! A friend of mine makes roseries for missionaries...he would just love to find a box like that. The prayer pictures of the Virgin Mary remind me of my childhood prayer pictures. Wish I still had them for the nostalgia. Thanks for sharing! PS the picture on your blog of the vintages watches stacked together reminds me of a person here in town who is making bracelets out of old watches which don't work, with the center watch being a working time piece Very cute and popular idea you might consider.

Oh Laura, I've to come to you to make good bargains! You found so gorgeous treasures! In Italy you should have had to pay at least 1euro for each medal!
Happy new day!

Treasure indeed, Laura! (Especially that first box, which does seem to be a cut above the average button collection - how I would love to rummage in that!) Can't wait to see more...
