When I bought this utility light bulb protector cage thingamagig from Gather in Ivoryton, CT....I knew just what I was going to do with it.....The light bulb was still in it and a burned off cord was coming out the bottom of the wooden handle. My dad took out the cord and removed the bulb....I promptly put a tiny bird's nest complete with a few downy feathers in the cage and placed a quail's egg inside....
After I took this photo I tied a wide soft brown and cream striped ribbon on it and it hangs in the lake house.....
Imagine my surprise tonight when I walked into Anthropologie and there was an entire wall of these thingamagigs!
Who knew?

ReplyDeleteHi Laura. Love your birds nest in the utility light. Last year my (now 17) year old son took apart a light bulb...removed it's inards...and suspended it from a wood base with wire holder. Very cool looking. Had to drag him in to Anthropologie to see their lightbulb "art". He's taking AP Physics this year so this "art" is all about getting into the guts of working things. I like Anthropologie's current reverence for industry and science.
