Do you love old metals as much as I do? I am attracted to all kinds...all textures....
Here are a few things hanging around the lake house...
Old chain pot scrubber...
Victorian iron ceiling hook.....
A large wire laced bowl....
Metal wire basket weave on old Czechoslovakian seltzer bottle...
One of my favorite necklaces....a lariat by jewelry designer Dina Verano in Chester, Ct.
Son Dan and friend arrive around midnight tonight! Looking forward to having these bright and fun law students around for a few days!
Hope your weekend is full of fun and happy times!
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a chain pot scrubber, but it's really neat looking. I love metal, we've got loads of it around the house. Happy weekend to you and the law students.

What brilliant , texturel photographs Laura, and I want that lariat....I've only really worn silver since my first piece of jewelry, which was a tiny silver ring that my sister bought me when I was about 12...I've still got it.Have a terrific week-end with your Dan and his friend...I think that our Dan is working this weekend....have fun. xxxx

ReplyDeleteHi Laura!
ReplyDeleteI adore old metals, they just have this rustic appeal which gives elegance and natural beauty to the atmosphere. :)
Have a great weekend!
How gorgeous! Come visit me at theelegantthrifter.blogspot.com. I read your profile about leaving your job of 35 years to follow your dreams. I did exactly the same thing, so hang in there! It's rough, but hey, I'd rather be happy with everything I do. I quit a big magazine job to write The Find: The Housing Works Book of Decorating With Thrift Shop Treasures, Flea Market Objects, and Vintage Details, and the gifts just keep on rolling in. I try to be thankful every day!

Hi - I'm so new to blogging and I'm so happy to find you. Love metals and textures so much that Gladys at my fave thrift shop saves these cool things for me. I once used an old firepplace screen that opened and closed with a pull chain for a funky window in my son's room and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteNo once else had one like it - that's for sure.
I'll be back -
Marsha

Great metal to highlight in your blog-and you have wonderful pictures in your sidebar. They're a feast in themselves!
ReplyDeleteI do love metals, and your post is marvelous! You have such a good eye for texture. I especially love the basket weave on the seltzer bottle. Whenever I go flea marketing, I find myself drawn to hooks and keys and brackets!
ReplyDeleteI love the texture and interest that old metals bring in to a room. The necklace is also very pretty!!
