Oh, dear. That can be taken so many ways. Hope you didn't sell something that you wanted to keep. I know I'm better at collecting than selling because it is so hard for me to part with things I love! And I love many things....
Haha, I love it. I recently wrote an article on this subject, it's a bug many of us have in varying degrees....I love your images here, thanks for the smile on Monday morning....
Laura, this is a most timely post for me. I'm on the fence about selling some things, either in a local antique mall or ETSY or both. I know I'm a good collector and have my doubts about being a good seller. But I think I need to give it a try. The time has come! '-)
You sound like you are sorry about selling something you wanted to keep....I don't sell, but I have gotten rid of things and later....am sad. But more things always seem to come our way!!
I have the same problem! I do however love your little glass bird! Does it happen to be for sale, or is there a store where they sell them? Not sure if this is a newer item or not, but I would love to find one for my daughter who has birds & would love this for her room :)
Ah, something to ponder....I have few regrets about the things I have done, but I agonize over the things I didn't do. In the end, the material objects are just 'stuff,' and are more meaningful to you than they ever will be to the person who has to deal with them when you're gone. Not much consolation, I'm afraid. Hope I'm not too mordid, but I do this for a living. LOL. ~Diane
Actually, let me articulate....I don't regret buying the things I have bought. Even if later, I decide I don't want to keep them, I can always sell them, even if at a loss. I do have regrets about several things I didn't buy. Like the antique Swedish painted headboard with some minor damage for $70 at our local Goodwill. And it seems for those things...I am constantly on the 'lookout' for them, even though the chances of ever coming across them are slim to nothing. It's all part of the game, I think. Win some, lose some. It still hurts though. Maybe it's just better to dwell on the fab things we've found, and leave the rest be. ~Diane
Oh, I suffer from the same malady, sellers remorse. For the most part, I don't regret getting rid of things, but there are a few things.... I still miss them. Sigh.
I really enjoyed your photos! I have been on both sides of the fence. Currently I am in the seller mode. BUT I do remember the feeling of selling and then REALLY REALLY regretting it.
Something else will come along to help "heal" your remorse. :0) Time heals all wounds!
Me too, me too. I have good picker skills, then I take the pictures and then I fall in love with the item. Thank goodness I don't keep everything, but lately I haven't posted any new items on my shop. I guess I better get going! Di
Now, now Laura, remember there is always something new on the horizon. Unless you have a huge mansion, something has to leave. It is also a good feeling to have room for something new, and to let something old go, to be enjoyed by someone else. Love ya, Evi
It's better to have bought and sold than to never have bought at all....? Or something like that....maybe. If you buy something...set it free? Okay--I'll stop. But yes--same problem here--but I do more often regret not buying something than parting ways with things I love. Seeing how thrilled someone is with something they purchased from my shop makes my day!
Laura, Do you want me to send back the awesome elf tin I bought from you before Christmas??? :) I will. :) I do know how you feel. I am a button hoarder and love your pictures here. LOVE!! Katey
I am the same way! Often times I find myself purchasing items with the intent to sell and end up keeping it myself. I love buttons especially mother-of-pearl and have two jars full.
Hey little birdy! I must be different because once it's gone I never think about it. There is always more out in this big world. Think of all the space you are freeing up without the clutter too sweety. You are not the only one with a baker at home. G just made me cupcakes to die for with choc cream sauce. But I am happy for you and Rob that he is developing his inner baker. x C
You funny girl!!!!!!! Well, you definitely know how to buy the prettiest vintage and antique pieces. Your comment made my day. I think you are such a dear kind friend Laura! hugs from me...
Seller's Remorse certainly is more torturous than Buyer's Remorse. Because you can always Sell what you decide you don't wanna keep and in hindsight was a bad decision to purchase... but to sell what you regret letting go of, that's tough, no upside to that! Hope it wasn't too painful a Release? I too am much better at Collecting than Selling, but I'm striving to become equally good at both. *Winks*

I had an online shop for several years, and I had these same thoughts! :) Love (L.O.V.E.) the crocheted trim in the first photo. Have a great week, Laura! ~ Zuzu
What a cute post. I end up with clutter and have to get rid of some of it. When I buy things my daughter says, mom will you end up selling it in a rummage sale? Isn't that awful? I am organizing my hoard at this moment. But it's for 'creating'. Love your thoughts and photos dear lady. It provokes us out here to do good.
I can TOTALLY relate. Seller's remorse all the time. I have to remind myself all the time: "You'll find another one." The way we shop, it's bound to happen....

ReplyDeleteOMGosh, don't worry... you will get better at it and eventually you will enjoy selling as much as collecting. I speak from experience, I promise :)

I can certainly see how that would be a problem. If you buy what you love, it stands to reason you're going to have a hard time parting with it.
ReplyDeleteLove the buttons and red cross pins!
Oh I feel your pain. I feel the same way :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I suffer from the same malady, sellers remorse. For the most part, I don't regret getting rid of things, but there are a few things.... I still miss them. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh well, they're just THINGS, right?
Brenda
When you store and display them so well it makes them harder to part with!
ReplyDeleteI love the wooden hand;
if it ever needs a good new home...
That is the cutest POST EVER !!! I too need to be in your GROUP LOL

It is a tough battle isn't it, and you have fabulous taste!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Laura -- I often have seller's remorse as I'm wrapping something up to go out! Have you found that Etsy book to be helpful?
