Family Matters

This week has been a roller coaster of emotions.
We were thrilled to finally see and spend some time with my sister Lynn and her husband Steve.

We shared special loving memories as we marked the first anniversary of Mom's passing.
We all miss her so much.

On Friday, we were shocked and saddened to learn that my dear cousin Rich
suffered a massive heart attack and passed away.
We had just lost his brother Doug to cancer at Christmas.

...an unwelcome and painful reminder of just how quickly time passes...
and how fragile life is.

And yet we are so grateful for
  God's many blessings.

Today we celebrate Daniel's 28th birthday.
The best son ever!

My Mom with Dan when he was just a little guy.
(She loved this picture of herself with Dan).

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hoping the week ahead brings all good things!

  4. Laura,
I lost my mother a little over 2 years ago. Her birthday was earlier this month, so she has been on my mind. I miss her and my dad so much, but like you I have wonderful memories and the gift from them of knowing how important family is. Thanks for sharing the beautiful thoughts and images.

  20. My dear friend Laura,
What a sad period you are all going through. First of all,I cannot believe that it's a year since your mum died. It only seems like yesterday. My husband and I have lost all of our parents and not a day goes by that I don't think of them.
....and, to lose two cousins in such a short space of time is so tragic. All I can say is that you must have many happy memories, I'm sure, and that we should all be grateful that these people were a major part of our lives. I'm sure that you all shared some lovely moments when you saw your sister and her husband and that it's lovely that you all have each other.
Thinking of you all and sending love from the UK. XXXX
