Flea Market Tidbits

Showing just a few tidbits...
some of the tiny, little things I picked up at the Webster Flea.

I loved this itsy, bitsy gold metal locket...
...and was thrilled to find the tiny photographs still inside.

An old tin...
...some brass skeleton keys

This little round shaped piece of hardware reminds me of a crown.
My Renninger clock face fits perfectly inside.

Perhaps it was a lamp part?
In August...while at the Madison Bouckville show in New York,
 I found the "crown" below.

More photos of found bits and pieces at Webster
and local thrift stores to follow soon.

I am much pickier in my purchases these days...
I have to fall totally in love with something
or get it for a steal before it gets to come home with me.

Frankly, my years of collecting have caught up with me
and taken over.
I have way too many antiques and loads of vintage stuff...
wonderful. old. things.

It is well past time to pass things along to someone else!
But...it's hard to let go.
Even though...I know it's just stuff.
I'm trying...really I am.

I think I have BHD
Borderline Hoarding Disorder
(I just made that term up...but it fits!)

Something I will never give up as long as I am able bodied...
is the hunt...the quest for the unusual...the beautiful
...and the love of being outside in the early morning
searching for that unnamed item that will start
 my heart a-pounding!

I'll never stop looking!
:)

...and hopefully one day soon I will stay put long enough
to open up my Etsy shop.
After all, if something sells...I have to be home to ship it out!

Enjoy the weekend friends!
:)

  6. PIAN my curent malady..Purge it all now..If I ever hope to move, to downsize, to not leave my kids with mounds of decisions to make when I'm gone, I must begin now to only keep my most valued treasures. Once you start it is easy..especially when you remind yourself that thousands more is out there if you ever want to add some back in ;D

  10. It's the little things that make us happy. I adore your finds. I agree, I really have to love it for it to go home with me. I've learned to walk away from items I'm not sure of.

  12. Why don't you start an etsy shop (or if you own one, create a vintage section). That's what I did for my every growing collections. I enjoy them until they sell...and sometimes they don't sell for a long time.

  18. I love your finds from the flea market. That little piece does look like a crown and your clock face sits perfectly in it. I know I am a victim of BHD too. It helps if you have an outlet to sell some of your things such as a booth in an antique mall, ebay or etsy. After all, besides the search, buying is so much fun.

  23. OMG, I had BHD too, but now its moved into its most advanced stage HD Stage IV; Its a sad plight, but I can't give it up! Happy to report I'm don't belong on a tv show yet (although my family keeps threatening…). I don't know why so many women have this, especially for nostalgia, but aren't we the lucky ones?

  25. Grat post, I agree that feeling right before you enter a booth or a shop and you glance something special across the room....yet there isn't much like it.
That feeling is wonderful and like you today I ventured out to add to my collection.

I love your thoughts on staying home, I am feeling your pain. No Etsy No photos on my blog, I don't when I will do it and I desperatly need to purge to reduce my collections. Maybe February will be our lucky month to begin selling our treasures, but what can we part with.
    Thanks for sharing, Kathy

  29. The thought of you having an Etsy shop makes my heart flutter!! BHD describes what so many of us have who love the hunt and then want to bring it home. I am trying to destash ....it surely isn't easy...but it does get easier...

  31. I can so relate to never being able to give up THE HUNT. I can come home with next to nothing, but still feel like i had a successful, rewarding treasure hunt---it's just so entertaining to me, pawing through stuff to find the treasures. Sifting through an archeological dig, sorta, only at an estate sale or flea market!

  32. I'm laughing so hard right now!!!
BHD?? That's what I have.. heading for the clinic now.
Love the locket and finding. Ok, I've never been to Madison. Take me with you if you go this year :)
    Have a great Sunday,

  36. ALL SO true and very me too hehe,I had to give up sooomuch when i moved and seperaTED FROM MY HUSBAND LAST YEAR AS YOU SAY STUFF IS JUST STUFF ,So hard to choose what to keep but some things were easy and people would say you are keeping that. Some things speak to us and their value has nothing to do with money,
    PS love that crown

  37. I think we're all walking that tightrope that separates BHD from just plain ol' nutty hoarders. Woe to any of us who get a case of Vertigo!
That locket is just too precious.
