Trading Up

Early this morning the sunlight beckoned me outside...

...the perfect light for taking pictures.
This wire dish drain used to belong to my girlfriend Paula...
...you know, the one I had the sale with last weekend.
We traded quite a few items before the sale...
and this old thing just needed to come home with me.

The beautiful botanical black and white dishes, you may recognize,
came from Anthropologie several years ago.
Paula fell in love with them and bought them first.
I waited and waited....eventually they went on sale...
...and then I pounced and bought them too.

Oh, and this old screen window came home with me too.
 love it!

Instead of opening up the lake house this weekend...
we stayed in town and will be helping Kate move
out of Manhattan and back to Brooklyn again.

Mr. Flea spent the day repairing a vintage dressing table with triple
mirrors that Kate set her sights on a few weeks ago
when she was home for a visit.
We will be bringing it to Brooklyn for her as well as a few other vintage girly things to decorate her new apartment.

What are your exciting plans for the long weekend?
:)

  10. Dear Laura,
I LOVE the way you trade things.....and what lovely things. It's great to think that everything is getting a new home for a while.
We can so relate to the moving of our children. Our son Daniel and our daughter-in-law Laura moved into a flat once on the top floor in a renovated old Brewery in London. Because of the age and shape of the building, there weren't any lifts. Daniel, working in the music industry, has collected vinyl records for years and has THOUSANDS and, I mean THOUSANDS so, they all had to be carted up many flights of stars.!! Believe me, they are very heavy !! We all helped and, the last couple of flights were so steep, you virtually needed oxygen !! I don't know if you've seen ' Barefoot in the Park' with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford but, if you have you will know what it was like !!!!
Our weekend will consist of, a bit of gardening and celebrating our son's birthday.
Wishing you a fun weekend Laura. XXXX

  28. Love, love, love the old wire dish drain, Laura! I had one very similar to it but sold it in my shop years ago. It's just one of MANY items that have caused me SELLER'S remorse. ;)
