A New Year, A New Attitude

2010 was a year of change.

2011 will be a year of new opportunities!

I am praying for courage
to embrace the opportunities that present themselves
and hoping that I don't let fear or doubt get in the way.

One of my favorite Christmas presents
was from my baby sister Mary Beth who scooped up some free leftovers from her church rummage sale.
She gave me an assortment of old soft covered cookbooks and a deliciously rusty blue gray enamel colander.
 LOVE them!

The old recipe cards pictured here are from an old box of cards that once belonged to a relative of Mr. Flea.
Some look pretty tasty and worth trying.
Can you believe after all the goodies we have consumed this holiday season...I am still pondering more sweets?

I wonder if this recipe works?

:)

On the road...
Hoping to get to see Mom and Dad
and the rest of my family soon!

  4. Hi there Laura,
I just KNOW that 2011 will be a wonderful year for you, filled with new beginnings, happy times and success. It's lovely to hear that you will be seeing your Mum and dad soon and I hope that your mum is feeling comfortable and in good spirits. Please say 'Hi' from me and give them and you and yours a big kiss when the clock strikes midnight from Jackie in England.
..... and, I think that that recipe for Blackcurrant cordial could come in handy after the excesses that have been going on over here in our house this past week !!
    With much love... XXXX

  7. If you added a little sour mash, I bet it would cure everything...including self doubts. Hang on, follow your heart and God will lead the way.
Enjoy the time with your family...which I'm sure you will.

  9. Laura, I'm a strong believer that fear is not from God. It paralyzes you, will disable and bond you. Yes, we are to be cautious and in everything prayerful. My biggest accomplishments have come out of taking a leap of faith and believing that if I do my part God will do the rest, and guess what, you might try and fail, it might not work out but you will never have to wonder what if. To fail is not to try and for forever wonder. I wish you a year of abundant blessings and may your dreams will come true, Marta.

  16. Laura,
Like the birds in the winter they take shelter and let God worry about them. You my little bird let God worry about your year. You have courage girl trust in that, fill yourself only with powerful words of encouraging thoughts no doubtful thoughts will take over your plan.

That little bird has chosen his shelter. Above it are the stars and the
deep heaven of worlds. Yet he is rocking himself to sleep without
caring for tomorrow's lodging, calmly clinging to his little twig,
and leaving God to think for him.
    - Martin Luther

Beautiful gifting of love was bestowed upon you for a beautiful Christmas. I love that your sister does what I love to do, find a treasure that suits the love one and recycle its beauty unto another. My kind of sister, tell her she is someone to love :)

Thank you for your beautiful visits and a year of admired beauty filled with inspiration.

    xx
    Happy New Year 2011

  21. Have a wonderful and trully blessed 2011. And isn't that last recipe a great reminder of our blessings??? Honestly, being a mum is hard enough in the 21st century, but trying to cope with dysentry at home alone... Hurray for modern medicine, I say!
