Summer Days

















Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

Another lovely summer day... although we are having a little thunderstorm this evening.

Sorting through collections...
Playing with art supplies...
Searching through recipes still for the perfect cold summer salads!

  3. Hi Laura, Beautiful photos...simple & elegant. I made a recipe from Giada DiLaurentis for Asian Chicken Salad for my MIL's 90th birthday. It was simple, refreshing and delicious! Had Romaine & Napa cabbage, which I had never tried...carrots, red pepper, chicken, toasted slivered almonds and chow mein noodles. I think you can find the recipe on the Food Network site. It was wonderful! *elaine*

    Lst night I made sallad, that was a success with Mr. Temps Perdu;)
    Copied from my blog:
    I placed 3 different salads (incl. wild rucola/ arugula) on plates, I boiled green asparagus in lots of salt and sugar (I hate asparagus that is tasteless) then cut to smaller bits and let cool (if served in salads I prefer it lukewarm), cherry tomatoes, a few leafs of basil, mozzarella, passionfruit and hot smoked salmon. And a glass of cold white wine.

  14. I have a simple recipe for a cold pasta salad. No specific amounts, just to your taste.

    Cook shells or rotini pasta, drain & cool
    Fry some crab meat or bay scallops to brown. Let them cool.
    Sliver some carrots.
    Put that in a big bowl.

    Then when you put it in individual serving bowls add,
    Italian dressing (I use the Good Seasons kind in the package, that you make)
    and some fresh parmesan cheese

    When sugar snap peas are in season I add those too.

    Your pictures stop and make me take a breath and feel some peace on an otherwise frenzied day. Thank you. You are gifted.

    I made a cold salad, copied from a store, with pasta, fresh basil, grated lemon rind and a lot of fresh parmesan thrown in. I do not measure. Salt and pepper and it was very easy and quite refreshing and delicious!

  19. I have been making lots of cold salads using pesto. Sometimes with quiona sometimes pasta. Cook the pasta, let it cool, add pesto and whatever else inspires you--like tomatoes, green beans, kalamata olives...It's really nice if you have basil in your garden or can get it from the farmer's market. happy cooking.

    As always, I like your styling. That should be your new job.....stylist for a magazine!!!

  28. The perfect summer salad is to take whatever you find in your fridge, throw it in a bowl and eat it up yum!

    Accompany with some crackers, cheese and fresh fruit.

    No fuss and not much muss.
