Lesson Learned

Looking at all those beautiful young faces this evening as they accepted their diplomas and congratulated each other on their high school graduation...

I started thinking how sometimes life really is like a bowl of cherries...
...these enthusiastic graduates are looking ahead to a future bright and sweet with possibility...

...and then sometimes life gives you a lemon...

...a problem or situation that you don't feel prepared to handle...
...sometimes you get the bitter with the sweet...

And so it is with every family...
I am feeling grateful tonight for time this summer and hope to be able to make some lemonade out of those lemons...
I will be heading to the lake tomorrow to spend some quiet and quality time with my Mom and Dad.
Time is a gift!

Have a great weekend! :)

  3. Laura this post is full of so much truth. When we are given lemons, there's only one thing to do...and that is add a little sugar and sit and enjoy. If I would have known then, what I know now, I wonder sometimes if I would have made other choices. What a blessing it is, not to know. I would have missed out on the sweetest lemonade ever!
Thank you for your post. I needed to remember.

  15. How true, Laura, sometimes it's a bowl of cherries, and sometimes you get lemons. It's really what we do with them, isn't it? And we can always add sugar to the lemons. Wishing you a special time with your parents at the Lake House, dear friend.

  16. I agree-- the photos tell your story in the most lovely of ways, and suddenly made me see that "lemons" can be beautiful in their own unique ways if we just give them the right perspective. Thank you.
