This morning brought more sunshine and perfect spring temperatures...
Walking out back I couldn't help but notice the yellows and light greens of early spring...
...everything fresh and new...
...another new beginning.
...a lovely way to start the day!
At the flea market last weekend I bought a huge box of buttons...
...which I emptied into this glass jar...
There are really some beautiful and interesting buttons here...
...I started to sort through them...
...but soon realized that I could spend hours sorting and playing with these buttons...
...so I decided to put them aside for a rainy day...
We are so fortunate to have won tickets to the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center and tomorrow we will see Rossini's Armida.
I have not been to the opera before but look forward to the experience....
Rob, a musician and singer is very excited to be able to see and hear Renee Fleming who has the starring role.
...another new experience...
New beginnings are exciting!

ReplyDeleteHello Laura! I love the look of buttons in a jar...my Nana used to save all her buttons way back starting in the early 1900's. Wonder what happened to those old buttons...probably got thrown away years ago. Oh how I'd love to have those now. Love your spring photo's ...I LOVE this time of year. ReplyDeleteIt seems everyone has a love of buttons, including me! I sorted through my huge stash of buttons last week and separated them by color so that I had a better idea of what I had. They look very pretty right now compartmentalized in a printer's drawer....just don't know how long they'll stay this way.

Buttons, they are such a big hit these days. I have them in antique canning jars in my sewing room and they make me smile when I look at them. Thanks for the post. It would be nice for you to come by and pay me a vist. XO MARY

When I was a child my mom gave us buttons when we played 'shop'...the buttons were the money....I did the same with my child...And now everytime I open up the sewing box...I see her and my childhood....lovely!

Oh yes, lovely buttons. I have a MOP buckle (or two) just like the one I can see in your picture. You are going to have a LOT of fun sorting those! I've been collecting tiny jewellery bags to help my mum sort her collection. How would you sort them?
