Spring Activities

Playing with a few Easter decorations...
I bought this pretty table runner last year at a close out sale...

The little bunny is an old tea drip catcher sitting on a cushion made from antique fabrics...by Kim Stout of Thistle Hill.
The heart was made using antique fabrics by my mother in law.

A few of my old chocolate molds.

...very pale blue eggs...

Spring is finally here!
There is lots to celebrate...
...and lots to be grateful for!

Tomorrow I am beginning the big clean out...
I will be going through boxes and closets and sorting and organizing.
Things will go to the thrift store... in the "to be sold pile" and in the trash!
This long overdue "spring cleaning" will continue for many weeks to come....

As a life long collector and having lived in the same home for over 36 years...
well, to be honest...I don't know what I have!

Stay tuned as I am sure to uncover some long forgotten treasures...
I will report my progress and my finds and may need some decision making help!
Do I keep? throw out? sell? donate?

It is overwhelming...daunting in fact...
...but I am resolved to get it done!

Are you with me?
:)

  5. Hi, love your post, everything is so beautiful. Boy we lived in one house for over 20 years, my husband got a dumpster, we had a garage sale and took what did not sell to goodwill. It was so much work, you have your work cut out for you. Good Luck. Terri

A backhoe would need to be bought in around here for a true clean up.

  11. I'm right there with ya! Cleaning out, clearing out, purging big time!
And it does feel good, I don't want to be one of those senior citizens who has to move out of her home and have people come in and gasp at all my cr##p that I've left behind. So I'm starting while I'm still young-ish, getting rid of stuff that I don't need and haven't used...I mean really, why keep it?
Best of luck and have a lovely Easter holiday.......

Oh, I'm so jealous of your spring cleaning - this is something that I should definitely do, but it won't get done this year :) I'm a collector too (drives my husband crazy because he just doesn't understand). Keep us up-to-date on your progress. We will all be here supporting you and giving you virtual help along the way.

  40. I love opening boxes and drawers that have been sitting for ever. It's like Christmas. I did it after we retired and moved to a smaller place. Now I find I am creating new boxes and drawers that will sit.....
    Have fun,

I find it hard to part with things but I know it has to be done. Beautiful photo's...love the chocolate molds in fact that reminded me that I have a mold in storage I need to find and bring in! Have a wonderful day and good luck with your spring cleaning!

  49. I need to spring clean too but when spring comes, I have too many irons in the fire! I decided to start spring cleaning all year long. I think it's a good idea to put some of the stuff on your blogspot and see if anyone would like to buy it! You have such cool 'stuff'! It seems there must be a way for all of us junkies (I mean collectors!) to have a "garage sale" blog to visit....somehow....Cindy
PS - where can I get one of those Sally Jean Charms that says "sometimes she shopped at garage sales."
