Vintage Christmas Gift
Two weeks ago, on my birthday, my mother in law gave me this antique child's pressed glass punch bowl with 6 matching cups on a little silver tray...
She had inherited it from Mary, an elderly cousin who had received it as a Christmas present when she was a young child.
That means this darling little set is over 100 years old.
Tiny antique ornaments in this wee antique glass punch bowl...
Was this not the sweetest, dearest birthday gift ever?
I can only imagine how delighted Mary and her sister were when they received it on Christmas morning more than one hundred years ago!
Joan at Anything Goes Here is hosting Vintage Christmas Monday. There are over 100 participants sharing their vintage Christmas items...
I love thoughtful (And vintage) gifts like this! You'll treasure it always.

I agree that was an AWESOME birthday present! Oh My Goodness! Your MIL really "gets" you, doesn't she?
ReplyDeleteI love that gift for so many reasons. First it's an absolutely adorable piece, second it was a family piece and is being passed down the generations and third your MIL knows you well enough to know how much you would appreciate it. Happy Belated birthday!!!

Oh,yes I can imagine the joy of them receiving that gift... isn't it a shame young recipients aren't nearly as grateful.

ReplyDeleteThat's just the punch bowl to serve nut or orange wine in ;-) I shall find you the recipe. I often wonder with pieces like that - for what occasions the owners may have used it and with what loving care they would have taken of it after each use... It is very fitting that such a treasure should go to you...
