Elvis at the Flea Market

It was a glorious morning at the flea market...
... cool but clear blue skies....
Elvis greeted me with...
"I'll have a blue blue Christmas without you"....

And that set the tone for this November market...
...lots of Christmas items!

...click to enlarge for a closer look!

Besides Christmas... there was other quirky merchandise for sale...
a collection of faucets...kind of funky and fun all piled together...

Lots of boxes and trays of assorted jewelry bits and bobs to sort through...
What could be more fun than this at 7:30 in the morning?
Hey, I'm usually on my way to the office at this hour.

Just a few pictures of odds and ends that came home with me...
...a sweet angel, a lonely vintage glass ornament...
(Elvis told me to buy them...50 cents each)

A pair of old ballet slippers that came out of an estate in Connecticut....
I really love these....I can visualize them hanging on the wall, perhaps with an old gilt frame around them...so feminine...so sweet and so pink!

a bottle from the late 1800's with an interesting pewter top...

Look at these pretty green transferware dishes....9 large plates and 3 small ones...I am hoping to mix them with my red transferware dishes at Christmas....

A well rusted pair of antique skates with vestiges of old leather....
...can't wait to create a winter vignette with these!!

Elvis let me take some of his blue blue Christmas music home with me...

This was on the dollar blanket....surely you can't blame me for claiming this prize....
...now close your eyes and picture just the right flowers arranged in this lovely old mug...

And the last to show in this post...two little silver plated trays....
...at fifty cents each...they will be just perfect for a certain project I have in mind...
Will show more of my fun finds next time...
Hope you enjoyed my early morning jaunt with Elvis at the flea market this weekend...
:) Laura

  1. Hi Laura,
Wow you had a fun and productive day. What great finds at super prices. The transferware is gorgeous, it is so hard to find here now and pricey when I do. Love the Elvis idea...did you get his autograph? I'm still hoping he'll trade Priscilla for me...

  8. More magical finds, Laura.....I can just envisage your Christmas table set with the green transfer plates......but the item that brought back memories are the skates. I had a pair, very similar. They were called 'Jacko' skates.Quite an appropriate name for me !! The leather part on mine were red and they were my pride and joy. I think that I played out on my skates, most of my childhood and I loved them so much.
I can't wait to see everyones blogs as we get closer to Christmas. ' It's the most, wonderful time of the year'. XXXX

  23. Elvis can be found everywhere, why just this past summer he was found in Statham, Georgia at a local flea market. That man sure does love his flea market bargains and vittles. Sea Witch

  24. Wow, I used to live in NC and there was a flea market like this but in NJ Ive yet to find things like this. When I happen upon them the items are new. Sellers buying junk to sell, its so disheartening. I wish I could go back for a day or two. When I was there I went to the flea market to sell. Id not yet cultivated an appreciation for buying! silly me!

  25. Great time of year to go....not so hot! I chuckled about the Elvis telling you what to do. He does have that charisma that ladies just can't say NO to. Makes me think of my favorite movie "true romance"
Also those piles of Santa's sure are cute!
