Lost shoe

At the rainy day sale this past weekend...I came across this sweet little brown baby shoe...

Just one...
It was in the booth of a dealer with a lot of old automobile junk...
It looked so sad and lonely....so lost.
I asked the dealer how much he wanted for it and he replied...
"two dollars".

Two dollars for one shoe? No way. I left the booth.

But .....my heartstrings tugged....it was lost...it was lonely...
...it was sad...
The mother in me could no longer leave a lost and lonely baby shoe than a lost child...
That automotive junk dealer knew my weakness.

  1. My heart strings would have tugged at me too, but $2? Maybe his heart strings were tugging too and he didn't want to let it go?

  15. Ooh my ... how cute is that little shoe!
Maybe it's me ... but just 2 dollars?
I would have paid double but that's because over here they would simply ask at least 10 ... for a single shoe that is ;-)

I wouldn't have been able to leave behind either. It has now found a good home!
Who did it belong to? That is what I always wonder.

  30. Oh, so lovely. We dug up a little clog in the garden of our tiny Newcastle-upon-Tyne flat when we lived there. It was incredible to think of the little child who had worn and lost it.
