Every Surface Covered
One of the complaints I often hear is that there is no place to set a drink down.....every surface is covered with one thing or another....a collection or an arrangement or vignette....
It is true....being a lifelong collector....I tend toward the impractical....I'm definitely a form over function kind of girl....(although this bell has a purpose I suppose)....
I not only enjoy collecting my vintage finds....I love to display them.....
...so I can see them....and enjoy them......What good would they be packed away somewhere?
I love to create little vignettes....here at the lake house....they mostly have to do with nature...
Some vintage seed packets in an old tin letter holder.....the flower in the center is an old clip earring....
About seven or eight years ago I painted this old display for seed packets black as I thought it went well with the graphics on the vintage packets.....maybe it should be white???
lots of these old clothes pins....
These are just a few of the many sweet grass baskets that have been collected over the years...many are sewing items....
Some pretty petals under glass......I have a bunch of these old glass paperweights in not as good condition and one day I plan to re-do them with pretty papers and bits of lace, etc.....
Don't you just love this....Miss Mildred Miller's Dew of Roses...for the complexion.....
Beware of Imitations!
....I am grateful that my family puts up with me covering every surface with my "treasures"....I know it isn't practical at all and is sometimes annoying....but it does make for interesting conversation sometimes....:) maybe?
.....So those are a few more of the bits and pieces sitting around the lake house....hope you enjoyed them....more to come!!
My mom's motto is no blank space so I COMPLETELY understand!! I love your treasures too!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
Very very cute! Your house must be so darling everything you show us is so nice! I love that old clothespin. Where do you find things like that? So cool! I have no space in my room to set things down either LOL.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
Oh we are so on the same page! I hear the same complaint...love to keep all of my stuff out {which is why I have boxes of stuff lying around just waiting to find the "perfect" spot}. Love your vignettes and those bottles are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYour treasures are absolutely lovely and I imagine that the eye is always delighted while at your home.
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to puruse through your lake house~
ReplyDeletehope you are enjoying the sun, sand and kinship
Thank you Laura!
ReplyDeleteWow, your vignettes are always so good! You have such a knack! Love them all!

The bottle (or glass) with the deer and moss is a real piece of art. And miss Mildred Miller's too.
ReplyDeleteThose bottles are really beautiful, lovely labels! And the stamps (?) on your first picture... olala, I would like to have them! They are great!
ReplyDeleteBest greetings, Marjolijn
I adore all your lovely things so nicely displaied everywhere! Don't mind if that isn't practical! I'd do the same but I live with my mother and I cannot do!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy week end!

LOVE all of your collections and displays. They are absolutely wonderful and just a pleasure to look at. Isn't that so much more important than having a place to put a glass down? :)
ReplyDeleteYou can never have to many beautiful items surrounding you, just hold the drink in your hand and take the time to admire your amazing vignettes. Practicality is over-rated!!!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at all your treasures. I agree, it is hard to leave a blank space blank for me as well.
ReplyDeleteHei Laura!!

You have a beautiful blog!!

I'm sure your family considers themselves lucky to have all these beautiful things (that you've taken the time to collect) surrounding them. Clean and practical is a little over rated...I'm sure you'd agree.
ReplyDeleteHey one one more day til we see each other in person!!!!! Ya!!
