Homage to Home Goods

I'm always on the look out for display pieces....preferably old or vintage.... pieces that can be used to display collectibles or hold flowers or candles.....items to hold and showcase my treasures....to use in the little vignettes I love to create....
Over the last six months or so....I have found several new items at Home Goods....a store which moved into a shopping center in the next town.....you probably have one near you and shop there too! I have picked up wire cloches, vases and containers which have a vintage look to them, for not too much money....and have enjoyed using them in my decor or giving them as gifts.....

This wire 3 tier stand can hold and display anything from cupcakes to Christmas ornaments.....

Isn't this little wire cloche charming?

These 3 glass jars have great chalky white wooden finials, are really large and have a vintage look to them!

I loved this wire cloche so much I bought one for Evi for her birthday.....

Love everything wicker and this basket has a glass vase insert....perfect for holding flowers or to serve bread sticks from or fill with buttons......

I love browsing through unique, one of a kind shops but find that sometimes this chain store comes through......Home Goods also carries great linens, picture frames, bath accessories and even furniture....Perfect for a little retail therapy and not too expensive!

  3. Helo my friend!!

Now I have looked through your post on March 14.th. You also have an old and beautiful herbarium!!!! It was really lovely. We are lucky to have things like that. It`s so much history in those books! I have bought it in a marked, so it`s not from our family. But I think it`s so nice anyway to own it. Because it testyfy hard and precise work!!

I want for you a beautiful tuesday! Enjoy your day and your family and friends! ;O)

  5. Okay now stop it. :) I don't have a Home Goods store, so this is not fair! I love, love, love that wire cloche with the fleur de lis finial so much! Everything you bought is wonderful, but then to see how you "make it your own" by accessorizing is where the real magic is!
Perhaps it's best that I don't have a Home Goods -- I would be there always and who would mind the store?? :)

Yet another incredible post -- thanks so much!

  13. Oh I want a Home Goods store near me but alas there are none. While I was in New York I saw commercials for them and wished I would have had time to stop by one! By the way, while I was at the show and talked to many people who said that 52 Flea was their favorite blog, you are loved by many!!!...hugs, Cheryl

  18. It sounds great and you have found some wonderful things. As always, what you do with a piece makes so much difference...

Here in France we have a bargain store called Gifi - 'les ideas de geni!' ('genius ideas', more or less) and it does an amazing range of cheap vintage-style items. I think that its buyers look at what is selling well in expensive French stores and then get copies made up cheaply in developing countries. I do love shopping there but I also wonder what I am doing to French commerce and workers in poorer countries whenever I am buying something! I guess that's why I feel most comfortable with real vintage... sigh...

  24. Hey Laura,
Love the cloches. We don't have anything that nice at the Home Goods in OS...it's mostly junky colorful tacky stuff that no one else could sell....thank goodness for me. Not that I could make my living from my shop anyways. I agree with your friend Floss from France...I too wonder what places like that do to the small gift shops that struggle to stay in business.
