Sunny Yellow Forsythia and a Whatzit

The sun shone so brightly today...
...yet the temperature was cool.
A perfect spring day!

Years ago I bought this zinc container
at the Trade Secrets Garden Show.
I was with my girlfriend Paula...and she bought five.
One for the backs of the four chairs in her dining room...
...and one to hook over the foot-board of her bed.

I seem to remember the vendor telling us that they were used by
French grape harvesters to carry their tools.

...but Paula didn't remember that... maybe I made it up!

Do you know?

Let me know if you do!

Whatever it's original use...
...I love it !

Hope you enjoyed your day
and that you have fun plans for the weekend!

Pansy Tin

A vintage tin covered in pansies!
A recent thrift store find down south.
I'm thinking that I have a tall tin with a matching pansy pattern
 up at the lake house.
It could be the start of another collection!

I love pansies...don't you?

Spring Hyacinths

Couldn't pick a favorite shot... I gave you them all.

It was a beautiful sunny and very warm day here in New York.
Tomorrow, they say...
...we are back to normal spring temperatures.
...and rain.
(I guess I'll unpack my suitcase!)

Lots to do at home this weekend...
how about you?

Change of Scenery

Even though it won't be too long before we see them again,
it was hard to say goodbye to Dad and sister Lynn...

...and all the beauty that there is in Florida.

Good bye Florida!

We pulled into the driveway this afternoon...
... the forsythia branches were bursting with sunny yellow blossoms,
the pale jonquils and daffodils were lifting their heads high
in the garden beneath the kitchen window...
and the hyacinths were vivid in pinks and purples.

What a welcome!
Spring is in full swing ...

I can't wait to take some pictures tomorrow...
...of the beauty that is in New York!

Pussywillows From Home

They tell me spring has fully sprung in New York... favorite time of year.

I guess it's time to go home!

Packing cardboard boxes full of goodies, little thrifting treasures...
...odds and ends picked up here and bring back north.

Thank you for all your kind comments
and well wishes for my family.
So much much love...
We appreciate it.

What are you up to this week?

Family Matters

This week has been a roller coaster of emotions.
We were thrilled to finally see and spend some time with my sister Lynn and her husband Steve.

We shared special loving memories as we marked the first anniversary of Mom's passing.
We all miss her so much.

On Friday, we were shocked and saddened to learn that my dear cousin Rich
suffered a massive heart attack and passed away.
We had just lost his brother Doug to cancer at Christmas. unwelcome and painful reminder of just how quickly time passes...
and how fragile life is.

And yet we are so grateful for
  God's many blessings.

Today we celebrate Daniel's 28th birthday.
The best son ever!

My Mom with Dan when he was just a little guy.
(She loved this picture of herself with Dan).

Remembering the angels in our lives.

Seashells...courtesy of a beautiful day at the beach!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hoping the week ahead brings all good things!

Found Bits And Pieces

I picked up a few bits at a sale here in Dad's retirement village.

A pair of sweet French clay santons.

A lovely blue and white transferware dish...minus its cover.
I plan to fill it with succulents or perhaps a few herbs
and keep it in my blue and white kitchen.

A few yards of creamy white crochet trim.
You can never have too much of that! (:

Or too many of these...
...mother of pearl buttons. candy!

A child's faux cameo ring...
...something so sweet about it.

And a lovely Limoges bone dish.

That's all for Show and Tell today!

I've been picking up odds and ends as I find them and will be cleaning them up
and getting them ready for a photo shoot or my little booth of treasures soon.

Hope you have had a great weekend!
Thanks so much for stopping by...
